AMT-More-Modems-Jul94 contains files of type "modm" and creator "amdt" (modem resources) that can be used in conjunction with the Apple Modem Tool v1.5 to add additional modems to the tool's list of choices available. I created these resources so I could easily add modems I used to the Apple Modem Tool.
Resources are available for the following modems:
PPI-14400FXSA
PPI-14400FXSA-FAST (Hang-up)
AT&T Dataport 14.4
Zxyel 1496E (new this release)
Telelink IMS-08 (new this release)
There are two version of the PM-14400FXSA. The "-FAST" version includes a feature for sending the long-break signal to the modem for hang-up. This was suggested by one of the authors of the Apple Modem Tool (Alexander M. Rosenberg, alexr@apple.com) as a technique to accomplish faster hang-ups of the modem. Your mileage may vary.
The Telelink IMS-08 modem resource was contributed by Christian Buser. The modem is popular in Europe. Many thanks to Christian for his contribution. He asked me to include it in these distributions. (Sorry, Christian, but I lost your e-mail address. Can you send it to me?)
Thanks to Zyxel for providing the 1496E modem at a discount so these settings could be developed!
HOW TO USE THESE RESOURCES
You add these resources by using the Apple Modem Tool itself. In the pop-up menu of modem choices, you select "Modify this menu". In the dialog box that follows, select the "Import" button. Point the file open dialog box at either of these resources, and you will add four flavors of modem settings for the selected modem. The resources can be removed in a similar fashion.
The files include custom finder icons. (It takes me longer to figure out how to make the custom icon show up than to create the entire resource. Can someone suggest a good reference on how to do this? I just fumble around until it works....)
These files also contain a custom modem cable PICT resource, which makes a minor correction to the one contained in the Apple Modem Tool itself.
These files may be freely distributed as long as they remain intact.
